Happy New Year!

Oh, my!  Another year is here and we have so many great things to see happen in the next year.  The VonHolediggers believe they  will have much success.  We want to have a company that sells dog related items.  We can’t wait.  We also want people to realize that dogs rule!  The VonHolediggers are an unique bunch.  We come from many walks of life but together we are family.  We have many social, personal, and individual issues but we try our best to be the best we can.
We love our fans and anticipate new ones.  We seek to be the best and this New Year we will try to bark less, smile more and love endlessly.
Thank you family, friends and fans.  The VonHolediggers love you and we will change the dog World one paw at a time.

Cheers, Gezondheid, Salute…

Freida explains why she is not maternal

I am sick of hearing I have lost my maternal instinct, that is nonsense.  I am ten years old and not ready to raise anyone’s baby.  I have loved and taken care of my fair share of dogs and cats along the way.  Mr. Garcia, that  cat I practically raised on my own.  He ran away to the old lady down the street.  Then there was Doobie, Tommy kind of ruined that for me.  I used to wash and carry that cat around like I gave birth to him.
Now I will go through the dogs.  We get to Knoxville and mom comes home with Henry and I am like okay I can deal with this.  He was cute and well behaved.  I raised a good one with him.
Next you have George, he doesn’t need any help and after him is Freddie Mercury.  Well here comes Vinnie and Danny  they are such Momma’s Boys it’s not even funny.  I don’t have to do anything there mom has it taken care of.
Okay by the time Barney arrives I am like what a cluster &*%.    You have George and Freddie Mercury thinking they are parents.  Needless to say look at Barney.  He might be a big old boy but he’s kind of a sissy.  Not that there is anything wrong with that. I am going to leave Bogey and Putter out of this because they have not really had much time with us.  But, what I am going to say will be scary for most. Johnny doesn’t stand a chance to be normal.  If he takes away the following from each dog.

Vinnie=Vocal
Danny=Trust issues
Henry= Jumping
George=Pervert
Freddie=Slob
Wally= Street fighting attitude
Barney= Aggressive fence behavior

So, I guess what I am trying to say if Johnny takes the above habits.  Let’s face it we are screwed!
Maybe, I should of come out of retirement and raise the little guy.

Vinnie's Thoughts On Christmas

You can tell by my eyes I am over it.  I am tired and the Christmas Season has gotten out of control.  I am tired of my mom making wreaths, bows,  cleaning for the relatives and writing out an endless amount of Christmas cards.  Like Henry said in an earlier post the Christmas card was another disaster.  We all look like we are piled on each other.  Very unorganized and that little schmuck Johnny stole the show.  I finally fell asleep on Barney and waited for it to end.
I am the President of the Dog World and I have to be put on the back burner for all of this nonsense.  I thought Christmas meant mom and I got to cuddle and watch the Lifetime Christmas movies, play ball, go for walks, and reflect on the past year.  We haven’t even had a chance to make Christmas cookies.
Mom will be off from that JOB after Christmas so we can play.  I can’t wait.
I want to wish you  all a very Merry Christmas and Happiest of New Years!

Love,
President Vinnie Laine

Henry's letter to Santa!

Dear Santa,

I would like a new baseball, room to run, and to have my own bowl.  I am sick of George thinking all bowls are his.  I would also like peace in the World.  I feel by saying that I will get the baseball.  I am just being honest.
Also, I want to thank all my Blogger and Facebook friends.  It’s because of you that I embarrass myself in pictures taken by mom and dad.  I love you all!

Freddie tells the true meaning of Christmas Songs

I was taking a well deserved break the other day.  I was resting on my sofa, listening to a little Christmas music when I became confused.  Let me show you the many reasons.

Lyric one:
I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus
Underneath the mistletoe last night.

Wouldn't that make mommy a tart?

Lyric two:
All I want for Christmas
Is my two front teeth,
My two front teeth,
See my two front teeth!

Why did that person not have teeth?  Was it a fist fight, illegal drugs, or did that man catch mommy kissing Santa Claus?

Lyric three:
I really can't stay - Baby it's cold outside
I've got to go away - Baby it's cold outside
This evening has been - Been hoping that you'd drop in
So very nice - I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice
My mother will start to worry - Beautiful, what's your hurry
My father will be pacing the floor - Listen to the fireplace roar

I am thinking the lady can stay because mommy is kissing Santa Claus and daddy is pacing the floor, chain smoking because he took out that mans two front teeth.

Well I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and when you hear the beautiful sounds of Christmas always remember there is a hidden story or two...

Love,
Freddie Mercury

Bella & Scout

Can't talk long because  President Vinnie is really getting sick of me and how much time I am taking away from him.  But, I want everyone to see where I came from.  Both my parents are black and I am white.  Is that where the expression came from, must of been the mailman's kid?

The DREADED Christmas Card Photo

Christmas 2008

I am not happy about this what so ever.  I heard the dreaded words ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PICTURE, puke!
It’s that time of year where mom gathers us around for a picture.  Two years ago we had to sit still for an hour with custom bows and  Santa hats.  This year I hear we will be sitting around the Christmas tree.
Out mother starts to get stressed and wants us all to be perfect.  Our dad is just as bad because he participates in such nonsense.

I have the above picture  to show you how ridiculous this can be.  In this card our beloved Sir Thomas and Birki were still with us.  They knew to cooperate because if not this picture taking could go on forever.  Daddy had to get  35 pound dumbbells  to tie George, Freddie Mercury and  Vinnie in place.  Look how ridiculous they are!  I think Wally was either stoned or sleeping.  That is up in the air.   Vinnie is right though,  looking at this picture Freddie sure did pack on the pounds.   This had to be the worst Christmas card.

Well I am off to prepare myself for another year of insanity in the VonHoledigger house, Merry Christmas to all…

Johnny Hilton VonHoledigger

It is against my better judgment to talk about such nonsense.  The parental units did it again and have the nerve to blame someone else.
Okay this is what I am talking about.  His name is Johnny Hilton VonHoledigger named after my late grandfather, Poppa Bear.  Poppa Bear’s name was John.  Poppa Bear was adopted so his birth name was Hilton.  So there you go.  There is the name of the newest VonHoledigger. He is all white.  His mom was a Sheppard mix and dad a Lab. We were all anticipating the turkey of Thanksgiving  when mom comes home from work  with this little oxygen thief.  Apparently Jason and Tiffany came and put Johnny in moms arms.  Johnny was born in a litter of nine, there was seven black puppies, one yellow and Johnny.  He is a little dirt ball.
When he first marched in the house  Barney hid.  Wouldn’t come out of hiding.  Now he and Johnny are buddies.  George thinks he had a baby, he is always washing dirt ball.  The Springer Collection ignored him and now they realize he is not going anywhere so they are mad, Freida doesn’t want to be bothered she lost her maternal instinct along the way,  Freddie could care less and Bogey and Putter hate him because he chases the little black dogs all over the house.  He attached himself on their fur and they give him free piggyback rides down the hall.
For myself as long is Johnny doesn’t get into my personal space I will be okay.  I just want to thank Jason and Tiffany for taking one more biscuit away from me because it’s one more VonHoledigger I have to share with, Merry Christmas to the two of you…

Happy Veterans Day

Our troops make incredible sacrifices every day.  They leave behind their pets, homes, family and friends to put their lives on the line to defend this great Nation.  Today and everyday the VonHolediggers honor you and thank you for all you do for the United States of America!

Also, we found on History.com this bit of fun trivia:

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in the First World War, then known as "the Great War." Commemorated as Armistice Day beginning the following year, November 11th became a legal federal holiday in the United States in 1938. In the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became Veterans Day, a holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars.

Happy Veterans Day!

President Vinnie Laine VonHoledigger

I, Vinnie Laine VonHoledigger, thank you for voting for me to become your next president of the dog world.  I am completely honored and humbled that I beat out my hero Snoopy.
I would like to thank my family for always supporting and loving me, my friends who voted for me and everyone who believes that the VonHolediggers can change the dog world.
We can do it one paw at a time!
In closing I would like to add that the best part of winning the election is Freddie Mercury has to call me Mr. President!

Grieving for my Parents, this house is crazy!

I am in pure disbelief the way my life has turned out.  I am so embarrassed I wore a towel over my head so my face won’t be shown.  It’s Halloween and we all had to get dressed up.  HOORAY!
I meant that sarcastically.
Henry told me to wait for the Christmas Card photo if I thought this went badly.
Freddie about took out the camera and Vinnie is such a suck-up he wanted to be in every picture.
Wally knew to cooperate because it will go on forever if not.
So all our Blogger friends.

I am here to say:

Splish, splash, I was takin' a bath!

We are clean.  Our mom decided to give us each a bath before the cold weather hits.  I don’t understand the reasoning behind this?
I will give you a play by play of  how this went.  Mom took a little nap and the next thing I know she has Bogey in the tub, scrubbing him down.  I should of known with the pile of towels on the floor that something was going to happen.
Well I went next because I just know to get it out of the way.
I act like I hate but I really don’t.   I get to smell so good.  We use the Buddy Wash by Cloud Star, it’s a 2 in 1 Shampoo + Conditioner, today’s scent was Lavender & Mint.  It makes me super white and fluffy.
The picture is of Danny and I drying on the big bed.  We knocked all the blankets and pillows out of the way so we could roll and play.  Mommy said she did not mind because it was clean sheet day.
I am wearing the late Tommy’s shower blanket.  It fit him, but the Velcro does not fit around me.  It’s not because I am fat, I am just naturally tall.
Here is the funny part.  Freddie Mercury being the dirty dog he is, won’t let anyone pick him up when it’s bath time so Daddy had to go put his welding gloves on so when he picked up Freddie he could attack the gloves and not dad.  He is such a little pig, let me fill you in on this.  He can’t say he is fluffy because of his fur.  Even when he is wet, he is still chunky.  I laugh so hard at him.  That dog is ridiculous.
Tonight we are going to sleep good and smell great!

Danny the Pot Stirrer

So it appears I am being blamed for stirring the pot around here.
Rumor has it that the last fight between Henry and Barney was my fault.
Because I am a pot stirrer.  I guess my lifting of the lip or low tone growling
is what causes the others to fight each other.
Listen to this one, I am blamed for Vinnie’s neurotic behavior
because he was calm until I came into the picture.  Can you believe such nonsense.
Vinnie is neurotic because he is a Momma's Boy!
I am just a little fluffy boy who loves to run.
So I can’t help it the others mistaken my moods
and take it upon themselves to fight each other.  Unbelievable!

This is what I have to say:

I am not a naughty boy!

I would never stir the pot.

I blame George.

Believe what you want  because I know once the fights start,
you will see me sitting in the corner with my blanket.

VonHoledigger's share their vacation!

Well the VonHoledigger’s are back.  We took a week off for rest and relaxation.
We had our Aunt J. Naughty over for a few days.  We played cards, shopped, ate good food and drank too much beer.
We cleaned closets, where we found lost toys.  We all had a spa day where we had baths and grooming.
Barney escaped his leash and chased all the cats.  Mr. Brave thought he was going to take a kitten down when he squealed like a pig.  The kitten attached himself to his nose and batted at the big guy.  Scaring him all the way home, making whimpering noises.
The Springer Collection caught  an opossum.  Mommy went to get her camera and by the time she got back it was gone.  It was huge.
The kitten’s each got a new collar, Wilma in pink and Betty in green.  Betty actually is a male.  We told you once they got a name they would never go anywhere.  We still all can’t stand the cats they meow constantly, which  causes us to get into fights and they stink.
We will finish our vacation with a little pizza and watch the Detroit Tiger’s beat the Yankees.
Life is good…

Snoopy came to us this day in history...

On this day, 62 years ago,  my hero Snoopy  made his first appearance in the strip Peanuts.
Snoopy is neurotic like me,
He  loves root beer and pizza, hates coconut candy, gets claustrophobia in tall weeds, and is deathly afraid of icicles dangling over his doghouse.
If I had a doghouse, I would be afraid too.
Just like me Two things Snoopy dislikes are listening to balloons being squeezed and cats.
My dislike for cats is serious, I have a real revulsion for the feline.
Snoopy has Woodstock and I have the VonHolediggers.
If you ask me, Snoopy and I even look alike.
I know he is a Beagle and I am a Spaniel.  But together our breed is an American.
I love you Snoopy!

P.S .  The video is my favorite Snoopy video, I know a bit early for Christmas.  But, so enjoyable...

Calling all Hunters to be Safe this hunting Season

The Springer Collection is always making fun of me for my lack of security, I am here to share with you a lack of their hunting skills.  English Springer Spaniels are known for being bird dogs.  Not this collection!
This morning one of the locals was shooting off their gun, which caused  Henry, Vinnie and Danny to run to mommy shaking in their fur.  So embarrassing for them.
The picture you see above is two little black and white Spaniels with a beautiful pheasant.  I found the above picture off the internet to share with what a true Spaniel should look like.
Instead I have this to look at:

The only hunting they do is for a nap or Vinnie hunts for Mommy to come home.  He will lie on the bed for hours just looking for her.
So sad for such a big mouth bully.  He's a real Momma's Boy.
We are so happy for Fall.  We ask all hunters to be safe and make sure that their dogs are just as safe.  Maybe, put the puppy in a little orange vest.

Decorating For Halloween

The VonHolediggers are starting to decorate the yard for Halloween.
We have Wilma the black cat that won’t go away and the mighty Pumpkin.
If you look closely at the Pumpkin you can see how full of it our parents are.  This is how it played out.  Barbara gave us the Pumpkin, daddy had a pumpkin vine that would not produce any pumpkins.  So they propped up the Pumpkin and act like they are growing it.
We were taught not to fib and now they have this huge thing on a bucket, Unbelievable.
If it wasn’t on the other side of the fence I would lift my leg on it…

Plant your Chrysanthemums, mums the word...

We the VonHolediggers hate fleas.  Even though the parents treat us, we get the occasional lingering flea.  So I am hear to tell you Fall if for planting so go get your Mums and start planting this week.

Chrysanthemums
Chrysanthemums come in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes and are a real treat in any garden. One chemical found in chrysanthemums disables and kills the nervous system of fleas. In fact pyrethrum, an insecticide found on garden shop shelves, is derived from chrysanthemum extracts.

Thank you!

Election Update: Things become Goofy...

It has been brought to our attention that we need a third party for our election.
Mrs. Berry  wrote to us on our Facebook these words.
"I tend to wonder if the Scoob has "inhaled" a time or two...
Snoopy is a vet. However, I heard he may have had a small involvement in the
"Water Bowl Scandal."  I had thought about how the election would go,
if Goofy ran as a third party. However, there is an issue with his failure to
produce his AKC papers. The conspiracy theories question if he is even a
canine or not. His girlfriend is a cow, after all."

We must say, very good question and well thought out.
So we our here to nominate Goofy is a third party.
May you continue to voice your opinion on our Facebook,
just type in vonholedigger, Cheers!

Thank you for your time!

Candidates chosen for Election Day 2012

Hear Ye, Hear Ye
Just in off  the VonHoledigger Post

This dog quadrennial election will be between:
                                          Snoopy and Scooby-Doo.

There is a bit of good old fashion debating in the VonHoledigger house this evening.  It appears that the Springer Collection and Wally are for Snoopy.
Barney, Putter, Bogey, and Freddie Mercury are fans of Scooby.
Freeway Freida is on the fence and George is off being dazed and confused to what is even going on.  Daddy gave him his medicine for his sore leg so I think he is stoned again.
It started to get ugly when Henry was getting in Barney’s face saying you don’t like Snoopy because he is white!
Where did that come from?  We were not raised like this.
Oh, my!  I will keep you posted.  We invite each of you to become our friend on Facebook where you can voice your opinion too.  Just search for VonHoledigger.
We look forward to hearing who you think would be the best dog president of this beautiful Country, USA!

VonHolediggers celebrate the Golden 50th Blog

fif·ti·eth
[fif-tee-ith]  adjective 1. next after the forty-ninth; being the ordinal number for 50. 2. being one of 50 equal parts.

Wow, who would of thought that the VonHolediggers had so much to say?  We have been writing now for four months and this officially will be our 50th Blog!
We have had a lot to talk about.  Informative, funny, silly, and just plain interesting.
We are ten dogs who are in charge, we take each day one paw at a time.  We are happy dogs and love to live.  Some ask me why I have so much Blog time?  My response is I am the go getter, I have a lot to say.
Another questions I get is why do I pick on Freddie Mercury?  Do I really have to answer such a question.  Just look at him.
In the coming Blogs I invite you to email me.  You can ask me a question or what my opinion is on something.    I will try to answer the best a dog can.
We thank all of you for your support and love.  We look forward to the next 50 blogs!

Cheers my friends-

Putter Butter in the middle of the night

Who needs a Slip ‘N Slide when you have Putter.
The other night  daddy got up to tinkle and there he went.
He slid right into some Putter Butter…
So gross, I think Putter  has potty issues because when ever he goes outside to do his business.  Henry lifts his leg on him.  That’s not very nice.
Daddy  kind of had a melt down.  I am sure you could hear his naughty language all of the way to Campbell County.  He had the Putter Butter all over his foot into his toes because he was wearing his Birkenstocks.
Mommy was no help, she laid in bed and quietly laughed with her body shaking.  The Springer Collection knew to stay next to mommy.
I on the other hand watched this all play out.  Once Daddy got everything cleaned up he went around and apologized to all of us for cussing.  If we were to charge a quarter for a naughty word, we would be wealthy.

Vinnie Boo Boo Child

Vinnie Boo Boo Child?

God help me, here we go again.  The parents and their obsession with reality television.

First of all lets take a moment to reflect on the TV shows that stand out:

Mommy loves Big Brother, I don’t mind.  It’s my favorite.
We have the Dance Moms, that woman scares me.
Survivor is fun, until mom sees a snake.
Amazing Race the parents think they can be on the show and they love to watch.   I hate to be the bearer of bad news.  But, lets face you have to be in shape.
Then you have the Housewives.  New York, New Jersey, Orange County, and Beverly Hills are the favorites.  For the record I want to say even though he is cute that dog Jiggy is getting far too much press when I am the one that should have it.  SO annoying.
Now more recently Mom was flipping through the channels and came across  Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
What the *$&%?  I have to have the parents talk to me like they are talking to an idiot?
The only thing I have in common with that child is I have a pet pig too.
Honey Boo Boo has Glitzy and I have Freddie.

Tribute to VanMorrison on his birthday

Today is Van Morrison’s birthday and the VonHolediggers would like to say
Happy Birthday to You.
We celebrate your music every day and today we would like Van Morrison to celebrate himself.
Let me tell you what Van Morrison means to the VonHolediggers.
First of all the song Tupelo Honey is special because daddy calls mommy Orange Blossom.
He will say Orange Blossom is sweet as Tupelo Honey.  It touches my heart every time.
Van Morrison music plays when we travel the open road or having a quiet evening at home,
it reminds me of mom and dad playing Scrabble and laughing,  dancing in our pajamas in the living room or watching the skyline change in the evening.  Nothing is better, For the VonHolediggers Van Morrison’s music is security like a beef roast in the oven on a cold Winter day or a hug from a parent.  Van Morrison equals great memories...
With that we say thank you Van Morrison and Happy Birthday!

Hurricane Putter with his strong winds

Hurricane Putter in the house.  Not only does this dog pass some strong wind.  But, he bolts through the house like a cyclone in the Caribbean.  The parents were trying to paint and in charges Hurricane Lil’ P,  he ran right through the paint and marked the floor with his little feet.
What makes it worst was he just  sat down in the paint.  Very destructive like a hurricane.
In all seriousness,  we are sending many prayers to all of the dogs, humans and other animals in Hurricane Isaac’s path.  May everyone be safe!
For me I will be stuck in the house with the rains that are coming from the aftermath of Hurricane Isaac with Lil’ P and his strong winds, I knew the parents should of purchased gas masks for our safety.
-George
P.S I have added a song from another favorite artist of the VonHolediggers, Bob Dylan singing Hurricane.

Back to school pictures with the VonHolediggers

Even though we are homeschooled I still think it would be nice if we had back to school pictures done.
Obviously, I will be in the pool.  I posed for a few pictures to see how I like the bandana and the different angles of my face/body.  Of course I look marvelous.
Lets go over where the rest of the VonHolediggers will pose.

Freeway Freida: Guarding Food Bowl.
Wally: Lounging on the sofa.
George: In the chair licking some private part!
Freddie Mercury: Eating on the Sofa.
Henry: Baseball in his mouth.
Danny: Dirty laundry hanging out of his mouth.
Barney: Next to fence, acting like he is guarding it!
Bogey: Next to daddy’s ankles.

Putter: Going potty in the house with his Doggles on.

So, I guess it’s finally apparent to everyone that I am the normal child.
